(ARIEL) There are a lot of people that say media’s role during the VietnamWar was a huge reason why the U.S was defeated. It was argued that themedia’s tendency toward reporting the negative was the reason why thesupport for the war in the United States was undermined. In 1950s, itwas reported only 9% of the American population owned a television intheir home. While that number shot up dramatically in 1961 when therewas no 93% of people who owned a television. There was a surveyconducted in 1954, that showed 58% of people stated they got most oftheir news from watching TV. Which is why television became the mostpopular source of news for the American people during the Vietnamera. This affected popular culture because more and more people werebuying TVs so they could watch the news and that shows that were on theair at that time. As you look at today’s culture there is at least oneTV in everyone’s home. There are more shows than ever on plus we arestill watching the news if we are not getting it from social mediasites.

(ariel) Inthe 70’s the people distrusted the government and even the President atthe time Nixon. There were a lot of protest, and sit-ins by the people. It seemed like the people were in charge and the government was afraidof them. Now it is a totally different story the government is big, bloated, money hungry and thoroughly corrupt. Even if people protest itis like nothing ever gets done besides riots and destruction among thepeople. Now a days it seems people in America have no morals or valuesregarding anything. The 1970s was all about peace and equality but intoday’s world that is all we want for America. You can just look at thecurrent political situation there are so many lies and riots, peopletrying to hurt others because either you do or don’t like the president. There is so much hate going on in the world, horrible things be saidabout people in power. History can teach us that things have changed butin other aspects things have stayed the some. I know 1970s they weretrying to have more peace yes it did get better but i think in today’sculture is has gotten way worse.
